Going on vacation for spring break, but don't want to fall out of your daily workout routine? Although for many of us going on vacation means taking a break from everyday life, for some, the possibility of missing that daily bout of exercise is stressful. We need that release of energy; it's our personal time-time we can focus on ourselves. No matter where you are and what you're doing, it is possible to get exercise.

Vacation Workouts

Obviously, if you've chosen hiking, biking, climbing or some other outdoor activity as the focus of your vacation, you activity level will be through the roof! But if you're going to the beach to lie in the sun and eat good food, your vacation may not center around high levels of energy output. No worries, you too can get a good workout … even without a gym!

For cardio vascular workouts you can try:

  • Running/walking/hikingTennis

  • Swimming/snorkeling

  • Beach Volleyball

  • Biking

For a strength and toning type workout pack a resistance band. They're cheap and take up virtually no space. You can do some rowing, chest press and triceps and biceps exercises. For a total body workout you can incorporate squats, lunges and some abdominal work, such as crunches and the plank! For more information of the above exercises visit our website at www.exercise.wsu.edu.
