Due to a severe plaster failure in the Student Recreation Center pool, the SRC pool will be closed from December 4, 2006 at 8:00 AM until Tuesday December 26, at 11:00 AM for repairs. The current state of the plaster has caused damage to pool systems, patron discomfort, and led to the difficulty in maintaining water cleanliness. If not properly addressed the plaster problems could lead to a long term pool closure with extremely costly repairs. Upon re-open on December 26 the SRC pool will feature a new state of the art PVC lining that will greatly enhance patron swimming experience and allow for long term uninterrupted pool usage.
Arrangements have been made for swimmers to be accommodated at Smith and Gibb pools during the interim period. Please check the University Recreation website or the Student Recreation Center after Thanksgiving break for exact times and details for swim options.
