October 21-27 has been recognized as Massage Awareness week by the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA). This is a time where the 54000 AMTA Massage Therapist in the United States inspire and educate massage therapy upon the masses.

According to the American Massage Therapy Association's Website, massage has been proven to:

- Relieve back pain
- Help relieve migraines
- Ease Symptoms of Carpel Tunnel
- Reduce Anxiety
- Alleviate side effects of cancer
- Lower Blood Pressure

At the Student Recreation Center, there are currently four massage practitioners available to offer massages seven days a week. The massage program offers one of the lowest prices within Pullman and the surrounding areas. This is especially beneficial to the students who cannot normally treat themselves to massage therapy. By providing high quality, therapeutic massages at a very affordable rate, the recreational massage program opens the possibilities for more students and community members to experience massage.
Throughout massage awareness week, the Student Recreation Center Massage Program will be offering demo chair massages and will be on hand to provide massage related information about massage therapy and what it can do for you.

To learn more about the Massage Program at the Student Recreation Center, please visit the website at urec.wsu.edu/massage or contact the department by phone at 335-UREC.
