Alumni Spotlight:
Lynda J. Carey, Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority
Lynda was born and raised in Salmon, Idaho, attended the University of Idaho and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. She was employed by Washington State University as Executive Assistant in the Office of the Vice Provost for Research and Dean of the Graduate School, and retired after 35 years of service in 2000. Lynda's hobbies include gardening, reading, and community service/volunteer activities.
Lynda has served as Chapter Council Advisor to Gamma Eta Chapter of Kappa Kappa Gamma since 1979 and President of the Gamma Eta Corporation Board since 1977. In March 1979, she chaired the Kappa Kappa Gamma Province Meeting that was held at Washington State University, which included chapters from Washington, Idaho, Montana, Vancouver BC, and Alaska. Lynda was also Province Nominating Committee chair for the Province meetings held in 1987 and 2001. Nationally (for KKG), she was a member of the National Pledge Task Force from 1994-1996, and served as the Western Zone Liaison on the National Housing Committee from 1994-1996. Lynda received the Province Alumnae Loyalty Award for 1989-91.
Lynda served on the Fraternity Welfare Advisory Committee, 1980-81 and on the Sorority Rush Task Force in 1984, was a member of the ad hoc Committee on Living and Learning in the Greek System and a member of the Greek Alliance Committee. She also served on the search committee for the Assistant Director of Greek Affairs in 2001. During her time at WSU she received the following awards: WSU Chapter Advisor Award (1992 and 1994), and Bob and Carol Smawley Award for Outstanding Service to the Greek Community (1997).
