Interfraternity Association Covenant:

During the past semester, many ideals symbolizing community have been major topics of discussion amongst Presidents.  What our community has lacked for a long time is a commitment to uphold individual values, but more importantly a commitment to uphold each other.  In the early weeks of April, all IFC Presidents signed a document titled ‘The Covenant of Our Community’.  The covenant embodies simple commitments that both encourage personal chapter growth but more importantly growth amongst all fraternities, with each President vowing to support each other.  I am fully confident that these men will step up to the challenge, and if nothing else, start a real movement in the right direction ensuring our future success.

The Covenant of Our Community

Joined together as Presidents of the Washington State University Interfraternity Association or affiliated therein, we will uphold the following commitments being of the same mind:

First

  • That we commit to uphold our individual organizational values, no matter how far we have departed away from them.
  • That we commit to trust and unite our community and its members.
  • That we advocate scholarly activities and strive for excellence in all that we do.
  • That we continually press forward on improving our community’s image and do what is necessary to ensure no halt in this movement.
  • That we build an environment that is secure for all students who live in or pass through.
  • That we recruit men worthy of our values and worthy of living amongst a community where those values are embraced and shared.
  • That we vow to hold those responsible for actions that do not support our community moving in this direction herein.
  • That we commit to publicize each positive act done by a chapter and/or our community that embodies the principles above, recognizing our progress.

And Last

  • That we vow to meet at necessary times to evaluate our progress, and unite on new ideas that will further advance this movement.

Together we realize that this covenant embodies necessary agreements to do what is right in all times, both difficult and trouble-free, but also realize that we are supported by the hands of our community brothers whom are endowed with making decisions parallel to those we encounter. We believe in this covenant and entrust each other and ourselves that it will last far beyond our service as Presidents, and vow to meet together in necessary times to discuss our progress. We aim to have been worthy of the positive legacy and traditions we have inherited.
