Students during the "Greek Debate" at the Greek Leadership Academy
WSU Greek Accomplishments 2007-2008:
Greek Leadership Academy (Formally Known As T.E.A.M Weekend):
Towards the end of January, the Center of Fraternity & Sorority Life, in conjunction with Eastern Washington University’s Office of Greek Life, held its annual leadership retreat at Camp In-Sid-Sen in Northern Idaho. Braving the winter weather, approximately 150 student leaders and staff members set out to lay the foundation for building a stronger Greek community. Specific officers from each chapter were invited to attend; Chapter Presidents, Standards/Judicial Chairs, and New Member Educators. Topics discussed over the course of the weekend included respect, competition, alcohol policies/BYOB, appropriate forms of electronic communication, hazing, and how to be a Greek Community rather than a Greek System. All students in attendance seemed to be responsive to the idea that change is necessary for the Washington State University Greek Community in order for it to continue to prosper. Overall, the weekend was a success and several of the topics brought up are still being discussed in constituent group meetings.

Gamma Alpha Omega Sorority, Inc.’s Delta Chapter Celebrates 10 Years At Alumnae Reunion
On April 24, 1998, Gamma Alpha Omega Sorority, Inc. recognized the Delta Chapter at Washington State University. And, this spring, the sisters of the Delta Chapter came together in Pullman from April 24-27, 2008, at its 10th Year Alumnae Reunion to celebrate reaching this milestone.
The theme of Delta Chapter’s
10th Year Alumnae Reunion
was Reaching Back & Stepping
Forward.
The theme was chosen in recognition
of the importance that mentorship has
in the lives of students of color and
the great responsibility of
maximizing access to opportunities
that will lead to success in
academics and beyond for those who
come later.
Accordingly, the ultimate focus of the Delta Chapter’s 10th Year Alumnae Reunion was for sisters, young and old, to reflect on the value of continuing to reach back to provide younger members with guidance.
The three-day long reunion consisted of a Welcome Luncheon, Business Meeting, Awards Reception and various social activities. The Delta Chapter thanks the WSU Alumni Association and Christina Parrish for working with the Delta Chapter on making this event a memorable one.

This class was implemented to allow Greek leaders, from a variety of chapters, to work with new members from a variety of chapters; developing a sense of community during the first semester of a new member’s collegiate experience.
Greek Week:
Greek Week was a major success this year! Teams competed throughout the week to raise money for the Whitman County Humane Society. The Greek community was able to donate approximately $17,000 to help build a new facility for the Humane Society. The winners of the 2008 Greek Week were Farmhouse, Kappa Delta, and Sigma Alpha Epsilon.
